What is Slumpa?

Slumpa is a collection of free random generators that run entirely in your browser. Instead of hunting for a dice, tearing up slips of paper or installing yet another app, you open the page and draw straight away – on a phone, a tablet or a laptop.

Every tool uses the browser's cryptographic random number generator, which gives a flatter distribution than the ordinary random functions most sites rely on. Nothing you type in leaves your device: lists, history and settings are stored locally in the browser.

The tools people reach for most

The dice roller covers everything from D6 for board games to D20 for tabletop role-playing. The random name picker is used to split groups and decide whose turn it is, and the random number generator draws numbers between any two bounds you choose.

The spinning wheel and spin the bottle are the most visual tools and work best when several people are watching the same screen. Coin flip and yes or no are the fastest when a decision just needs to be made and moved past.

Slumpa at school, at work and at parties

In the classroom, drawing straws and picking names shares the floor fairly, and the card deck is handy for teaching probability. At work, drawing lots or spinning the tombola is a neutral way to hand out tasks or raffle off prizes.

For parties there is truth or dare, spin the bottle and the Magic 8 Ball – and at Christmas the Secret Santa generator assigns gifts without anyone drawing their own name.

Frequently asked questions

Is Slumpa free?
Yes, every tool is completely free. No account is needed and there are no ads.
Is anything I type in saved?
Lists, history and settings are stored locally in your browser. No data is sent to a server.
Does Slumpa work offline?
Yes. Slumpa is an installable web app with offline support, so once the page has loaded once the tools keep working without a connection.
How random are the results?
Every draw uses crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling, which gives an even distribution without the bias that simpler methods introduce.
Which languages is Slumpa available in?
22 languages, from English, German and French through Spanish and Italian to the Nordic, Central European and Baltic ones. Switch at the top of the page; the choice is remembered.
