Random mood generator

Let chance pick today's mood

Let chance set the mood for the day. Each one appears with its own emoji and colour, along with a short suggestion for how to make something of it.

What the mood generator is good for

As a playful way to start the day: draw a mood in the morning and try to live up to it. It works surprisingly well as a nudge, particularly when what comes up is motivated, curious or grateful.

In a group it makes a decent icebreaker – everyone draws a mood and says how close it lands. In classrooms it helps put words to feelings, which is easier when the word arrives on the screen than when you have to find it yourself.

Moods that make room for the harder days

The list covers sixteen moods and includes the awkward ones as well as the obviously positive ones – stressed and sleepy are both in there. That is deliberate: a generator that only ever produces cheerful moods goes flat quickly, and the heavier words are often the ones that land.
